`When was One Tree Hill made?
One Tree Hill College also known as Penrose High School opened on the 1st of February 1955. In 2019 it had a student body of 1160 consisting of more than 40 different cultures. The governing body for the college since 1989 has been the One Tree Hill College Board of Trustees.
Why was the Tree On The hill cut down?
This tree was cut down by a pakeha settler in 1852. In an act of vandalism in one account or for firewood in another. It seems likely this was a different tree from the Motorola which, as a sacred tree, had given the hill one of its Maori names.

Maungakiekie is also known as One Tree Hill is an Auckland landmark Part of a legacy by Sir John Logan Campbell one of Auckland's founders it commemorates his respect for Maori. The nearby pine tree was removed in 2001 after it was damaged by Maori activists who believed sacred trees were inappropriate for the site.
